The three day stone carving course will run from 10am to 5pm. Suitable clothing advised. All tools and materials supplied, lunches and snacks provided.

The course is suited for all abilities (ages 18 and upwards), all that is required is enthusiasm and suitable clothing. Strong or steel toe capped boots are advised

There will be soft and hard stone available for carving, the artist has recommended if participants want to choose a round river bed stone, sourced and brought by the participant themselves as the foundation for inspiration for your work. (optional)

A minimum deposit of £50 is required when booking the course, the balance can be paid up to 30 days before the course starts.

SHORT TALK BY ARTIST ATSUO OKAMOTO
DEMONSTRATION OF TECNIQUES, TOOLS EQUIPMENT, FINISHES.

2ND SESSION
THERE WILL BE A SHORT ONE TO ONE DISCUSSION WITH ATSUO TO DETERMINE WHAT IS POSSIBLE WITHIN THE TIME OF COURSE WORK COMMENCES ON CHOSEN STONE AND SCULPTURE IDEA FOR EACH PARTICIPANT

ATSUO GIVES ONE TO ONE TUTORIALS DURING THE MORNING TO PROGRESS YOU

GROUP SESSION ON DEVELOPMENT OF WORK TAKING THIS FIRST WORK INTO A

Three day work shop content - six sessions

DAY 1
Session 1; Helen Baker talks about her own practice :
Materials (use of canvas and grounds and methods with examples. Attitudes to making.There will be a group discussion where each person will talk about a previous work they have produced.

Break for Lunch

Session 2;  Brief talk on Colour
Helen gives an exercise on colour ending in a contemporary painting. Helen discusses the decisions made with each artist on an individual basis.
 
DAY 2
Session 1; Continue the piece or work on a self initiated work.
During this session and the next Helen gives one on one tutorials to discuss work and how they can progress their piece.
                
Break for Lunch
Session 2; Continue to consolidate works or begin new ones
Short group session on development of work to round up the day .
 
DAY3
Session 1; Exercise taking the first work in to consolidated final work

Break for Lunch

Session 2; Group Critique and final round up
Hang work in Gallery Space  and have a glass of wine
Guests welcome.
